VCS is the world’s most widely used greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction system. In just a few short years, more than 1,000 listed businesses have collectively removed more than 130 million tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

GHG projects come in all shapes and sizes from all economic perspectives. VCS divides services into groups known in the industry as regional scopes.These scopes range from energy efficiency to transportation to waste management.

The VCS quality principles ensure that all VCUs represent realistic, measurable, surplus, sustainable, independently verified, calculated GHG reductions or eliminations conservatively, uniquely numbered and clearly labelled.

Accreditation is a means of assessing the technical competency and integrity of organizations providing such assessment and certification services in the public interest.
